What You Need To Know

Any purchase can be stressful, especially buying a home. But it all does not have to be. A home inspection should give you peace of mind, but at times can have the opposite effect. You will be asked to absorb a lot of information usually in a short time. It is possible the inspector will go over items that you don’t understand. With meeting with the inspector after the inspection to getting the written report. All of this can be overwhelming.

Relax. Typically, most items listed on the inspection will be maintenance recommendations, life expectancies and minor imperfections. No home is perfect. Keep things in perspective. Do not kill your deal over things that do not matter. These are all important. However, there can be larger items that could have a big price tag on them. If those arise. Again Relax. Look to you inspector to explain things to you as well as your agent. Making sure you have a good understanding of the information you’ve been given about your new home is the key.

Cheaper is not always Better. Buying a home is possibly the most expensive purchase you will ever make in your life. This is no time to shop for a cheap inspection. Home Inspectors are not all the same.  The cost of a home inspection is very small compared to the purchase you are looking to make. The cost of hiring a certified professional inspector can by far pay for itself. Make sure you take your time in finding the right inspector. Ask around. Referrals are the best type of advertising an inspector (or any business) can have. Having someone that is going to be there for you cannot be price matched.
